Jason D. Helping Others through Laser Tattoo Removal Classes

Just six months after graduating from National Laser Institute’s laser tattoo removal classes, Jason D. is on a roll—a MAJOR roll. The laser tattoo removal business he recently opened in his hometown of Amarillo, Texas is already showing signs of success; he’s spending more time with his family and he’s giving back to his community. But to understand how Jason got where he is, it’s important to know where he was before making the decision to attend National Laser Institute.

Like a lot of other Texans, Jason was in the oil industry, spending most of his time on offshore drilling sites, always on the road to get to his next job. He knew he wanted to spend more time with his wife of 14 years, Melissa, and their four children, currently aged 15, 12, 8 and 2. “I was tired of missing all their big moments because of work—not just birthdays and holidays but also sporting and school events,” he says. At the same time, Jason, an avid tattoo fan, wanted to cover some of his own tattoos so that he could get new ones. “There really weren’t any places in Amarillo. I knew to get them covered, I’d have to drive pretty far but obviously, that wasn’t going to work for me.”

Jason and Melissa discussed his options but it wasn’t until Melissa informed him that she’d found National Laser Institute online and had submitted a request for information on Jason’s behalf. Now things were getting interesting! “I knew going into this that my goal was to own my own business,” he says. Jason graduated mid-December 2015 and just two weeks later, opened the doors to his tattoo removal boutique, Vindicated Images. Melissa now helps Jason with administrative tasks as well as accounting.

Jason’s also a big believer in giving back to the community and one of the ways he’s doing so is helping ex-prisoners get back into the workforce by offering them a $25 flat fee to remove tattoos from the neck up and/or the wrist down. “I love this industry because it really does make a difference in other people’s lives,” he says.

Recently, Jason was featured in a news story for KFDA and his success just keeps growing. When asked about his goals for the next five years, he says he hopes to expand with additional lasers and laser technicians, and get the word out to Amarilloans from all walks of life that, “They’re not stuck with a tattoo that they no longer want. They don’t have to travel four or five hours to get them removed—they have options right here at home.”
