Insider View: What It’s Like To Be a Certified Laser Technician

Have you ever wondered what it would be like to be a cosmetic laser technician after earning your certificate of training?  In today’s blog, we will give you a sneak peek into an radio frequency treatment with a real client.  We invite you to join Hilary, Certified Laser Instructor, and Certified Laser Technician, at National Laser Institute, as she demonstrates radio frequency Sublative Rejuvenation on her client, Ginger.

Insider View: What It’s Like To Be a Cosmetic Laser Technician

Hilary is joined by National Laser Institute CEO and Founder,  Louis Silberman, who asks the questions we most commonly get from prospective students who are considering earning their cosmetic laser certificate of training.

As Hilary administers the radio frequency treatment, she reveals how radio frequency is an All Skin Color, All Skin Type Non-Laser Skin Rejuvenation System. Clients can get the benefits of a laser treatment without the laser side effects on skin types that are predisposed to discoloration.

Cosmetic laser technicians not only perform laser treatments, but also a variety of radiofrequency based treatments like radio frequency.  Radio frequency sublative rejuvenation is a non-laser and non-light−based treatment that uses Radio Frequency energy delivered into the deep layers of the skin to rejuvenate the skin without affecting the top layer of the skin.  By bypassing the top layer of skin and delivering the energy at a deeper level, problems related to pigmentation are minimized.

Radio frequency allows a very tailored treatment plan which can produce dramatic results with aggressive treatment and downtime or clients can opt for mild treatments with only a day or two of downtime spread out over more sessions.

Hilary and Louis talk about what makes the non-ablative radio frequency treatment different from laser and IPL treatments, and distinguish the difference between ablative and nonablative treatments. With radio frequency Hilary explains she can give her clients the best of both ablative and nonablative worlds. Non-ablative treatments target the lower layers of skin while leaving the skin’s surface (epidermis) unharmed and intact. Whereas, ablative laser resurfacing targets both the surface and the lower layers of skin by injuring or “ablating” the surface of the skin.
