Everything You Need to Know About Laser Hair Removal Training

Laser hair removal is one of the services that makes up the 10 billion dollar medical aesthetic industry and is one of the top 5 nonsurgical cosmetic treatments performed in the United States. It’s been talked about by various celebrities, including Kim Kardashian, and featured in countless magazines as a great alternative to shaving or waxing.

But most people aren’t aware of what it takes to become a laser hair removal technician. For instance, unlike other trade schools (cosmetology school, culinary school, cosmetology school) laser hair removal training doesn’t take months to complete, but only two weeks. You are also able to go out into the working field after you’ve completed your certification.

Do I need to be an aesthetician to do laser hair removal?

No. Although aestheticians can attend cosmetic laser training school, you don’t need to be one prior to attending your course.

Should I have a medical professional license before entering training?

This depends. There are a few states that require you to be a medical professional (MD, DO, RN, PA, LPN, etc.) in order to perform cosmetic lasers/laser hair removal. However, a majority of states in the U.S. don’t require a medical professional license BUT will require you to meet the state’s regulations. This typically means you need to have your high school diploma/GED before attending a laser training school that meets your state’s regulations and requirements.

How do I find a laser school?

It may be easy to find a cosmetic laser school in your area but in the long run, it helps to attend a reputable school. That way you know they aren’t scamming you (it happens) and you are receiving top-tier education that will not only help you find work, but will teach you the best and latest techniques provided by leaders in the industry.

National Laser Institute has been around for over a decade and trains hundreds of attendees in their locations each month. Students have flown in from across the world to attend NLI because they know they are getting quality education and then some, like access to our Graduate Services Department that provides 100-200 job leads each month, access to the largest online medical aesthetic library, and classes led by industry experts.

I’ve never worked in the health/beauty/anti-aging industry before. If I enroll in a course, will I be way behind everyone else?

Not at all. In fact, most of our attendees haven’t worked in the industry prior to coming to train at NLI. You don’t need to worry about falling behind or not understanding! We make it fun and easy to learn.

What kinds of things will my laser course cover?

Everything you need to know and understand about the importance of laser safety, Fitz-Patrick scale, bio-physics, tissue interaction, equipment information, pre and post care, client selection, hand-on training with clients, and much more!

What happens after I graduate?

National Laser Institute provides you access to our Graduate Services Department. This is our way of saying that you can always come to us if you need anything at all! We provide our graduates with access to the largest online medical aesthetic library, 100-200 job leads each month, and give you prompt responses to any and all questions you may have!
