The medical esthetics industry has been on the rise for the last few years, and so have the most in-demand nonsurgical cosmetic treatments. Botox, ranking #1, had over 6 million services performed just in the U.S. last year, while laser hair removal had over 2 million treatments in the nation.

Why do people want nonsurgical treatments? For a variety of reasons. Cosmetic injectables and cosmetic laser treatments like laser hair removal offer no downtime or recovery period. It’s an in and our process, oftentimes completed within a lunch hour. And because recent technology has grown to become more efficient, safe, and faster, people are seeing the results they desire in a very limited time.

This is why many medical professionals, health and beauty experts, and estheticians want to become medical esthetician certified in order to begin offering these kinds of treatments to a client base.

Who Qualifies?

In most states, anyone with a high school diploma or GED can enroll in a medical esthetics school and become medical esthetician certified. There are some states where only medical professionals can gain medical esthetician certification. You also need to take a medical esthetician training course that meets your state’s appropriate hours for training. To discover this information and more, you can call 800.982.6817.

Esthetician School vs Medical Esthetician School

One of the biggest questions we get is what’s the difference between esthetician school and medical esthetician school, and which one should you complete first if you want to gain certification in both?

Esthetician school is for those who want to improve client’s skin, but training is only involved on an epidermal level. This means you will learn waxing, tweezing, facials, wraps, exfoliation, aromatherapy, makeup application, and more. However, medical estheticians learn on an epidermal and dermal base, training with cosmetic laser therapies like laser tattoo removal, laser hair removal, laser acne reduction, laser stretch mark reduction, and much more.

We recommend that you complete medical esthetician training first, because this training only takes two weeks. Esthetician school typically takes up to six months. Plus, you can apply what you’ve learned during your medical esthetician school training when you are enrolled in your esthetician school.

National Laser Institute

We offer medical esthetician certification for those interested in cosmetic laser and injectable therapies. We have dozens of different course options with hands-on training within our luxury medical spa environment, as well as classroom training with experts in the field. We are the leader in the medical esthetics industry and are recognized as gold standard education. We’ve also earned many outstanding reviews.

To learn more about medical esthetician school, training, and certification, please call 800.982.6817.

The Industry

Laser hair removal was ranked as one of the most in-demand nonsurgical treatments last year, bringing in over 2 million treatments. But laser hair removal isn’t the only popular cosmetic laser treatment on the market. Over the last decade, laser tattoo removal, laser acne reduction, laser wrinkle reduction, and more have been some of the safest and most effective ways to improve your skin.

Cosmetic laser schools are designed to train people to become laser technicians. There are many laser schools located throughout the United States, but National Laser Institute is the original laser school who pioneered the laser training curriculum for schools across the nation, making us the leader and “Harvard” of laser schools. That being said, we’re here to provide everything you need to know prior to enrolling in a laser training course.

Regulation and Accreditation

Regulation and accreditation are two of the most important things you must understand before enrolling in a laser school. Some state regulations say that you must be a medical professional in order to attend a laser school. However, most states allow anyone with a high school diploma or GED to receive a laser training education. To learn more about your state’s regulations, call 800.982.6817.

Accreditation is also important. You want to attend a laser training school that offers proper accreditation and certification. If a school isn’t accredited, then your training would have been for nothing. Don’t waste your time and money by attending a bunk school. National Laser Institute is accredited and gives students proper certification upon completion of courses.

Laser Training Courses

There are many things you want to look for in a laser training course. Many students find comprehensive courses the best since they cover a wide variety of treatments. National Laser Institute’s comprehensive laser course covers laser hair removal, laser stretch mark reduction, laser wrinkle reduction, laser acne reduction, photofacials, and much more. There are also courses that specialize in one modality, like laser hair removal and nothing else. If your goal is to only receive training on one cosmetic laser machine, then these types of courses would be more for you.

You also want to attend a laser school that offers hands-on training with the treatments you’ll learn. National Laser Institute offers hands-on training within our luxury medical spa setting, and clients work with scheduled clients with varying skin concerns. This clinical setting allows students to take what they’ve learned in the classroom and put it into practice. Some states may require that laser technicians have a certain amount of hands-on training hours completed before they can perform treatments on their own clients.

Finally, the quality of the laser school. You want to attend a laser facility that offers experts in the field, a friendly, welcoming environment, and a laser school that offers thorough knowledge within your course. National Laser Institute offers all of this and more. We are the leading medical aesthetician school in the country and are dedicated to helping you every step of the way. We are recognized as gold standard education and have earned many outstanding reviews. To learn more about laser schools or National Laser Institute, please call 800.982.6817.

Interestingly enough, over 55% of emergency medical specialists feel burnt out within their field while 67% of nonsurgical specialists are happy where they are now.

Nonsurgical specialists, or medical aestheticians, are those who perform a wide variety of nonsurgical cosmetic treatments, such as Botox, laser hair removal, dermal fillers, and more. They are committed to helping clients gain confidence in themselves and their skin by improving a variety of major skin care concerns, such as acne, wrinkles, pigment problems, and more.

Each month, we train multiple medical professionals within the field of medical aesthetics. Many nurses and doctors who come to our medical aesthetician school are burnt out on their current medical job or are looking for something new to add to their practice just to offer something successful and different. And because medical aesthetician training takes between 1 day and two weeks, many medical professionals find this easy to squeeze into their schedules.

License Requirements

Those seeking to gain certification injecting cosmetic treatments like Botox and dermal fillers must be a licensed medical professional and have earned some kind of degree in medical practices. Medical aestheticians must also take a two week laser training course in order to become certified in laser hair removal, laser tattoo removal, and more.

Salary

The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) states that aestheticians skin care specialists earn a salary anywhere between $12,260-$99,329. This varies because skin care specialists is such a vague category that can include many different things. However, we have typically seen medical aestheticians earn an hourly pay rate between $15-$25 an hour, depending on the services they are providing. Commission is also included for many medical aestheticians as well, but it also depends on where you decide to work.

Medical Aesthetics Training

At National Laser Institute, we offer medical professionals many different course options that include CE/CME credit upon completion of the course. Some of our medical aesthetician training courses include Botox training, dermal filler training, laser training, BHRT training, sclerotherapy training, and much more. Courses range from 1-14 days and many courses are comprehensive so you can learn a variety of different modalities to add to your skillsets.

National Laser Institute is the leading medical aesthetician school in the nation and pioneered the very first laser training curriculum that other laser schools use across the U.S. They are recognized as gold standard education and have earned many outstanding reviews.
We all want to keep our firm, youthful skin. We’ve heard all the basics: Wear sunscreen, keep your skin moisturized, eat healthy. But can TOO much sugar be the cause of wrinkles or premature wrinkles?

Let’s look at the science of it all. Eating sugar creates an initial process called glycation, which is a chemical reaction within the body that bind with certain tissues that form harmful molecules, or AGEs. These AGEs lead to the damage of collagen–which keeps your skin healthy and firm–and elastin, which acts as an anti-wrinkle agent within your skin. If collagen and elastin become damaged, wrinkles may form.

It’s not just candy sugar treats that cause this reaction in your body, either. Soda, white bread, and white pastas can also trigger this process. This also means your skin is more susceptible to sun damage.

Does this mean you should give up sugar for good? No. There are actually some sugary treats that have antioxidant aging benefits, like dark chocolate. Instead, try moderating your intake of white starches and candy or maybe substituting your spaghetti dinners with a whole wheat pasta and trading those sodas for sweet but healthy smoothies.

Laser Training and Wrinkles

Many laser technicians have seen the unfortunate benefits of AGEs and how they react with the skin, but that’s to up-and-coming technology, laser treatments are able to help many clients who want to rid wrinkles. Doctors, nurses, career changers, and various other healthy and beauty professionals have been receiving laser training in order to help treat clients with wrinkles, which is one of the biggest skin concerns people have.

Laser training takes two weeks for Arizona residents. At National Laser Institute, we provide hands-on training with a number of our state-of-the-art laser wrinkle reduction equipment. Laser safety is also included in the course. Students learn from experts in the field and once they graduate, they are certified to perform laser treatments under the supervision of a medical director.

Botox Injection Training

Botox is typically a quicker way of ridding those annoying fine lines and wrinkles, and the #1 nonsurgical treatment of choice by millions. 6 million just last year, to be exact. We also offer Botox injection training for medical professionals interested in adding this service to their business. Specific Botox injection training only takes a day, but you can add on dermal fillers, sclerotherapy, laser, BHRT and more for a longer training period. Botox injection training is also hands-on and medical professionals will gain experience by practicing on scheduled clients.

Wrinkles are inevitable for everyone, but this day and age it’s easy to do something about it.
Appearances are everything, especially in the social media age. People care about how they look before going on dates, interviews, and in everyday life. If someone has a concern about their skin, it could crush their confidence.

Health and beauty professionals are in the business of making people love their skin again, giving them the treatments that help boost their confidence. As time progressed, aestheticians became popular for a wide variety of epidermal skin care treatments, such as waxing, tweezing, facials, exfoliations, and more. When technology excelled for the beauty industry in the 90s, cosmetic laser treatments started becoming more and more popular. Today, medical estheticians are the ones who perform both dermal and epidermal skin care treatments using cosmetic lasers, such as laser hair removal, laser acne reduction, laser tattoo removal, laser wrinkle reduction, and much more.

Qualifications and Training

Estheticians are typically in school for 5-6 months, but medical estheticians in Arizona only need to complete a 2-3 week course, depending on what they would like to become certified in. For those interested in cosmetic laser skin care, the comprehensive laser course is ideal. It meets all of Arizona state’s regulations and requirements and gives students hands-on training with state-of-the-art laser treatments on scheduled clients. In order to become a medical esthetician in Arizona, a student needs to have a completed GED or high school diploma and must complete a state-approved cosmetic laser training course.

Those who want to enter the laser training field and become a medical esthetician usually will complete laser training before attending an esthetician school. This is because esthetician schools take longer to complete and medical esthetician introduces some of the basic themes that esthetician schools tackle on a deeper level, so students typically feel more prepared when they complete their esthetician school training.

Medical Esthetician School in Scottsdale

If you’re looking for an ideal medical esthetician school, consider National Laser Institute. We are the leader in the medical esthetic industry and are recognized as gold standard education. We have a number of flexible, Arizona state-approved courses for laser training and cosmetic injectable training.

Fact: the medical esthetic industry is a billion dollar marketplace. Fact: thousands of people receive laser training and injectable training each year. Fact: the medical esthetic Facts and statistics are hard evidence of success, which is why we’re giving you solid information explaining why the medical esthetics industry is continuing to grow.

Laser Treatments

Laser treatments range anywhere from laser hair removal, laser skin resurfacing, laser acne reduction, laser tattoo removal, and more. Last year, Americans spent over 4 million dollars on nonsurgical treatments and statistics show us that between 2011 and 2012, laser skin resurfacing treatments increased 25%. There were over 8 million nonsurgical procedures last year with one of the most requested as laser hair removal. This clearly shows us there is an increasing trend in clients purchasing cosmetic laser services.

Laser Training

In many states, you must be a medical professional to operate cosmetic lasers. However, other states allow those who have obtained a high school diploma or GED to receive laser training in order to perform treatments. But do clients really care who performs their treatment, or are they just hoping for the best price possible? Statistics show us that 93% of people base their treatment priority on the person’s training and expertise versus the price of the treatment. This shows us that laser training is still important no matter who is firing a laser, whether it be a laser technician or medical professional. In fact, 47% of clients said they would receive laser treatments based off of a physician’s recommendation. Looking for quality laser training? Check out National Laser Institute.

Laser Testimonials

National Laser Institute has many success stories when it comes to laser training. To name a few:

It is one of the best decisions I have ever made. I had the best experience and I tell everyone that wants to get in this field to go to National Laser Institute. All of your staff were so great and so smart. They really do an amazing job. You really do have a wonderful program and it is a dream of mine to teach some day. Thank you so much!

- Brooke Daisley

Going to National Laser Institute was one of the best decisions of my life! I learned so much here not only about the field of lasers, but also about marketing ideas, patience care, and the laser industry as a whole. I am excited and feel extremely prepared to start my laser career. Thank you so much!
