Training for Laser Hair Removal

You’d be surprised how little time training for laser hair removal takes. In order to become a certified laser technician, you need to attend a cosmetic laser school. Laser training courses are designed to teach attendees safety, equipment, techniques, and more. The goal is for laser technicians to gain expert understanding so they can treat their own clients.

Laser hair removal is one of the leading nonsurgical cosmetic treatments in the United States. Technology has become so advanced that one does not need to shave or wax when they can remove unwanted hair without it growing back. Lasers do this by safely targeting hair follicles within the skin. The beam destroys hair at it’s root. This prevents hair from re-growing. Treatments can be performed almost anywhere on the body: legs, underarms, chest, facial regions, and more.

Training for laser hair removal typically takes 1-2 weeks. Night classes are also available for those with busy schedules. Once training is complete, laser technicians have many options on where they can find work. Medical spas and salons are hot spots. But laser techs can also find work in dermatology clinics, doctor’s offices, etc. National Laser Institute’s Graduate Services department sends graduates between 200-500 job opportunities across the U.S. each month.

Training for Laser Hair Removal with NLI

There are some states that only allow physicians, doctors, nurses, dentists, and other medical professionals to use and perform cosmetic laser treatments and clients. To determine if your state is included, you can call 800-982-6817. However, many states allow those who have earned a high school diploma or GED to enroll in a laser hair removal training course.

There are also many laser manufacturers that will offer equipment training for attendees. This type of training typically takes under a day to learn and is not the same as laser technician training. Training courses for laser hair removal include laser safety, tissue interaction, client selection, skin types and advanced techniques, skin and hair biology, risks and benefits, hands-on training, and more. This type of training is thorough and takes anywhere from 1-2 weeks (full time course) or about a month (part time/night course).

National Laser Institute’s training for laser hair removal courses include hands-on training within our leading medical spa environment. Our classes are led by professional technicians who have been in the medical aesthetics industry for years.
