What is BroadBand Light?

What is BroadBand LightFact: Sun, pollution and the skin’s natural aging process have an impact on how your client’s skin matures. There is just no way to avoid it.

The good news, however, is there are effective cosmetic treatments available to reduce age spots, sun spots and hyperpigmentation to help your clients fall back in love with the skin they are in!

Here is what you will learn about broadband light if you are thinking about certification to become a laser tech!

What is BroadBand Light?

BBL therapy, also called Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) therapy or photo facial, delivers light energy to the skin, which improves overall tone and texture.

With little to no downtime, a photo facial using BBL energy is used for anti-aging, sun damage and skin rejuvenation. BBL laser treatments address skin concerns like treat pigmented lesions (i.e., freckles, age spots), vascular lesions (i.e., small blood vessels), skin firmness and uneven skin texture.

So, how does BBL work? The process is quite simple:

  • Light energy is delivered by a handheld device that heats the upper layers of the skin
  • And absorbed by the targeted areas, which
  • Stimulates skin cells to regenerate new collagen while
  • The colors of your natural skin tone blend to create a more even and balanced appearance.

A BBL photofacial procedure is gentle and noninvasive. Generally, there is no need for a topical anesthetic. However, it may be used when treating sensitive areas.

During training to become a laser tech, you will learn that the number of BBL treatments needed will vary from client to client. As a treatment provider, you can personalize a treatment plan based on the level of improvement your clients desire.

What makes BBL technology different from IPL is it is the only cosmetic treatment that can change the expression of genes associated with aging and longevity. Essentially, it can restore the genetic pattern of aged skin.
