How to Become a Botox Technician
Medical professionals can learn how to become a Botox technician by following three easy steps before enrolling in a CME or CE course to gain certification.
1. Find out if you meet medical license requirements to perform Botox. Registered Nurses (RN), Physicians (MD & DO), Nurse Practitioners (NP), Physician Assistants (PA), Dentists (DDS & DMD), and other qualified health professionals are eligible for training.
2. You can attend esthetician school, but you don’t have to. Medical professionals who are interested in the entire realm of skin care can attend esthetician school to become trained on chemical peels, facials, waxing, etc. However, all you really need is a Botox training course that will teach you how to safely perform this treatment.
3. That’s where medical esthetic schools come in. Places like National Laser Institute offer Botox training courses for medical professionals. Instead of taking months to complete certification, it can take as little as a weekend to earn certification. This includes hands-on training with Botox and thorough direction and instruction on cosmetic injectable safety.
It’s also nice if the medical esthetic school you choose also offers CME or CE credits upon course completion, like National Laser Institute. Unfortunately, estheticians and cosmetologists cannot become a Botox technician without prior medical license in accordance to their state.
