National Laser Institute on the Better Arizona Show: Become a Cosmetic Laser Tech
If you’re unsatisfied with your current career or are looking to enter the health and beauty industry, it may be time to consider cosmetic laser treatments. As a cosmetic laser technician, you can perform laser hair removal, photofacial skin rejuvenation, laser tattoo removal, body contouring, vein reduction, and many other in-demand laser technology services.
In the above video, Gina from the Better Arizona Show talks to Louis Silberman, the President of the leading cosmetic laser school in the nation, National Laser Institute.
“We founded the industry about ten years ago in Scottsdale, Arizona,” Silberman says. “We were the first cosmetic laser training school in the United States. Who knew ten years ago this would become a ten billion dollar industry?”
How big of an industry is this? Enormous. In fact, there are currently 2,500 medical spas open in the United States alone. In this 10 billion dollar industry, over 7 million was spent on Botox, dermal fillers, and laser hair removal just last year. Photo skin rejuvenation and chemical peels also made the top nonsurgical treatment list provided by the ASAPS.
So who is capable of performing these treatments?
“Every kind of physician you can imagine is doing this. It’s not just plastic surgeons and derms,” Silberman says. “It’s primary care doctors, OBG YNs, nurse practitioners, nurses–it’s everywhere.”
You don’t have to be an esthetician, doctor, or nurse to become a cosmetic laser technician in Arizona. After a two-week laser training program, it’s possible to be out in the working world with a job. National Laser Institute has had everyone from stay-at-home moms to real estate agents to cosmetologists come to their cosmetic laser school to become trained in laser technology.
But where does a cosmetic laser tech work? There are countless chains of medical spas as well as physician’s offices. Primary care offices, OBG YN clinics, urgent care clinics, working alongside naturopathic physician, fitness centers, hair salons, and more.
National Laser Institute provides a Graduate Services department that provides between 200-500 job leads across the U.S. each month for those interested in seeking careers in this industry after they graduate.
If you’d like to learn more about becoming a cosmetic laser technician, National Laser Institute hosts Skin Scene events each month. These events provide you with better understanding about this industry and are hosted by Louis Silberman. They include presentations from leaders in this industry, live demonstrations with the latest laser technology, and at the very end there are drawings for training scholarships toward National Laser Institute’s laser school.
