Top Medical Aesthetic Trends Just In Time for Father’s Day
By now, you have probably heard more men are getting medical aesthetic treatments like Botox, or “Brotox” as it has been recently nicknamed. The American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS) reported in 2016 that men underwent more than 1 million medical aesthetic treatments like Botox, dermal fillers and laser hair removal!
This recent trend is fueled by many factors: the desire to be more youthful and competitive at work, sharing photos on social media and the growing acceptance of cosmetic procedures. With Father’s Day around the corner, here are some of the most popular medical aesthetic trends for men:
CoolSculpting
With summer in full swing, everyone hopes to get that perfect beach/pool body. CoolSculpting is a great way to achieve that. This treatment uses controlled cooling to target and eliminate stubborn fat cells underneath the skin. Over time, the body naturally processes the fat and eliminates these dead cells to create the appearance of a more sculpted and toned body. CoolSculpting is considered long-term because the treated fat cells are gone for good.
Botox
For years, women have turned to Botox to turn back the hands of time. Now more men are following their lead. Between 2005 and 2016, Botox use among men increased by 70%, with 313,519 procedures performed in 2005 to 447,508 treatments in 2016. Botox is a quick, easy way to rejuvenate the frown lines between the eyebrows, crow’s feet and forehead furrows. Results last three to four months.
Dermal Fillers
Generally, wrinkles are one of the first signs of aging. And as we age, our face often loses its fullness. Dermal fillers (like Juvederm and Restylane) can help men have a smoother, fuller appearance. Fillers can be used to square off the jawline, reduce the appearance of jowls and build out the chin. Dermal fillers typically last from six to 18 months.
Kybella
Did you know that a double chin (submental fullness) can make men look older and heavier than they are? Whether physically fit or average build, any man can have a double chin. This is where Kybella can help. Kybella is a manmade form of deoxycholic acid, which is produced in the body to help it absorb fats. When injected into submental tissue, it physically destroys fat cells and lessens the look of a double chin.
Laser Hair Removal
Laser hair removal is a relatively painless alternative to traditional methods like shaving or waxing. Approximately 194,015 men underwent laser hair removal last year, according to ASPS. Most men don’t want to removal all their hair, but they do want it thinned out. Common areas treated for men include sideburns, chest, face, abdomen, back and arms. Generally, up to eight treatments are needed for the best results.
