Best Jobs in Health and Beauty Industry

Health and Beauty Industry Best JobsAre you looking to make a career change or trying to figure out the best way to enter the workforce? Maybe you have been out of work for some time and are intimidated at the prospect of starting over. Does the idea of working directly with clients to help improve the appearance of their skin appeal to you? The medical aesthetics field has some of the best jobs in the health and beauty industry. Read on to find out more.

What Is Medical Aesthetics?

Medical aesthetics, also known as aesthetic medicine, is an exciting new field encompassing all non-invasive cosmetic procedures. Medical aestheticians, then, are highly qualified skincare specialists.

In terms of expertise, they exist somewhere between dermatologists and aestheticians. (In other words, medical aesthetician jobs are jobs in the health and beauty industry both!) Patients may go to medical aestheticians to solve skin issues that cannot be treated by aestheticians alone. At the same time, medical aestheticians do not have the same medical authority as dermatologists.

Because the field of medical aesthetics is so broad, there are several different ways to practice it. However, two of the most popular career options in medical aesthetics include cosmetic laser technician and aesthetic injector.

The Future of Medical Aesthetics

The medical aesthetics industry is quickly growing and shows no signs of stopping any time soon. The Bureau of Labor Statistics predicts an overall job outlook of 11% through 2028 for all skincare specialists. In comparison, the national average for all jobs is 5%. Furthermore, a recent study found that the global medical aesthetics industry will reach $17.07 billion by 2023.

Several different factors are behind the growing demand for medical aesthetic services. Today’s aging population has the disposable income to spend on elective procedures, for one. Plus, the destigmatization of non-invasive treatments has drawn new market demographics, such as men and millennials.

It should also comfort you to learn that medical aesthetics is one of the few recession-resistant fields out there. In times of economic distress, consumers have proved that they are still willing to splurge on small indulgences. Experts call this phenomenon the “lipstick effect.”

Compared to their surgical counterparts, non-invasive treatments are relatively quick, painless, and affordable. They require little to no time off work. They may even help workers maintain job security in a world where employers see youth and beauty as an asset. In fact, the Great Recession saw a surge in non-invasive treatments and a dip in surgical procedures.

Jobs in Health and Beauty Industry: Cosmetic Laser Technician

Cosmetic laser technician is one of the Best Jobs in Health and Beauty Industry. And it is not hard to see why: A technician can easily choose just one or two specializations, open up a private practice, and still turn a considerable profit. Though cosmetic laser technology is still relatively new, consumers continue to prove that demand is high.

One of the most appealing factors of becoming a cosmetic laser technician is that almost anyone can do it. In most states, the two main requirements are that you:

  • Be at least 18 years old
  • Have a high school diploma (or its equivalent)

Further rules and regulations may apply, however, depending on where you intend to practice. There are no federally mandated rules and regulations regarding cosmetic laser technician licensure. Each state has its own set of laws instead, with some regulatory agencies drafting up legislature as well. No matter where you are, proper training is necessary to keep your clients safe and happy.

During our Online Comprehensive Laser Course, you will receive online classroom laser training with a variety of instructors and live demonstrations with several hours on each modality. Modalities include Laser Hair Removal, Photofacial, Laser Skin Rejuvenation, Radiofrequency Skin Rejuvenation, Coolsculpting, Cellulite Reduction, Tattoo Removal, Radiofrequency Skin Tightening, and Microneedling. Then choose one of our nationwide locations to attend your clinicals for hands-on learning!

Jobs in Health and Beauty Industry: Aesthetic Injector

Unlike cosmetic laser technicians, all aesthetic injectors must come from a medical background no matter where they intend to practice. Though med school already involves training with needles, learning how to administer cosmetic fillers involves careful study of facial anatomy, aesthetic sciences, and more. Upon certification, injectors can administer cosmetic fillers, such as Botox and Kybella.

Because you must be a medical professional to administer cosmetic injectables, many aesthetic injectors are also aesthetic/cosmetic nurses. However, physicians (such as doctors, dermatologists, plastic surgeons, and more) also frequently pursue aesthetic injector certification.

And why wouldn’t they? Adding cosmetic injectables to the services you offer can only maximize your income potential! Plus, getting your Botox certification can also be a quick and easy way to earn CE/CME credits. Many of the National Laser Institute’s students finish our course in as little as just one weekend.

During our CE/CME Online Cosmetic Injections Course, you will receive online classroom and demonstrations on Botox, dermal fillers, off label Botox and fillers, PRP, sclerotherapy, Kybella, and PDO threads. Then choose one of our nationwide locations to attend your clinicals for hands-on learning about the Best Jobs in Health and Beauty Industry!
