Botox Approved to Treat Forehead Lines
Cosmetic injectables are everywhere these days.
While medical aesthetics treatments are on the rise, Botox has held on to the top spot, according to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS).
On October 3, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) announced Botox Cosmetic has been approved treat forehead lines. This makes Botox the first and only neurotoxin indicated for three facial treatment areas.

Botox For Forehead Lines
Now, in addition to crow’s feet and glabellar lines, Botox is approved to treat moderate to severe forehead lines associated with frontalis muscle activity in adults.
But wait. Haven’t botulinum toxin injections been used to treat forehead lines for years? Yes, but that is because medical professionals have been using Botox “off-label,” meaning the treatment wasn’t approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
Once a drug obtains FDA approval for one condition, a physician or nurse can legally prescribe it for other conditions, which they believe can benefit from that drug.
Botox is a non-surgical wrinkle treatment used to relax and smooth the appearance of fine lines on the face. The treatment works by paralyzing the muscles in the face temporarily through its active ingredient, botulinum toxin type A. Botox can also address medical conditions like a chronic migraine and hyperhidrosis.
