Botox Approved to Treat Forehead Lines
Cosmetic injectables are everywhere these days.
While medical aesthetics treatments are on the rise, Botox has held on to the top spot, according to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS).
On October 3, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) announced Botox Cosmetic has been approved treat forehead lines. This makes Botox the first and only neurotoxin indicated for three facial treatment areas.

Botox For Forehead Lines
Now, in addition to crow’s feet and glabellar lines, Botox is approved to treat moderate to severe forehead lines associated with frontalis muscle activity in adults.
But wait. Haven’t botulinum toxin injections been used to treat forehead lines for years? Yes, but that is because medical professionals have been using Botox “off-label,” meaning the treatment wasn’t approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
Once a drug obtains FDA approval for one condition, a physician or nurse can legally prescribe it for other conditions, which they believe can benefit from that drug.
Botox is a non-surgical wrinkle treatment used to relax and smooth the appearance of fine lines on the face. The treatment works by paralyzing the muscles in the face temporarily through its active ingredient, botulinum toxin type A. Botox can also address medical conditions like a chronic migraine and hyperhidrosis.
Botox Training at National Laser Institute
If you are a physician, nurse or medical professional, you are eligible to take one of National Laser Institute’s comprehensive Botox courses, which can be completed in as little as a weekend!
Each course combines didactic and clinical hands-on training for the ultimate learning experience.
In the classroom, you will learn things like facial anatomy, Botox injection techniques, patient care and contraindications.
Clinicals will take place in a medical spa environment where you will be placed in small, intimate groups for the remainder of your training. During clinicals, you will watch Botox demonstrations and administer treatments on scheduled clients for a real-world experience. You will learn how to administer treatments like Botox, dermal fillers (Restylane®, Perlane® and Juvederm®), platelet-rich plasma (PRP) and Kybella.
Botox training is a wonderful opportunity for physicians who want to expand their practice and increase revenue by adding Botox and laser treatments as they are cash-based procedures. Many RNs take these courses to broaden their skill set and gain supplemental income or start a new full-time career as a medical aesthetics nurse.
