• Unlicensed laser technicians or conducting additional procedures they are not trained in.

COSMETIC LASER SAFETY TRAINING

Proper training for all students on laser safety is essential and mandatory.  Our educators train our students how each individual piece of laser equipment works.  Moreover, our students are trained on each piece of equipment about the optimal time and length of laser exposure to create optimal, safe results for each client.  

Instructors, students, and clients must wear protective eyewear to shield their eyes from direct and indirect laser exposure while in the treatment room.  When the laser is not in immediate use, the handpiece is placed in the standby mode for the safety of both the operator and the client. Additional precautions are taken to remove all unnecessary reflective objects from the area near the beam’s path including jewelry and piercings to avoid laser burns.

Finally, we train our students about the importance of obtaining and maintaining detailed medical records for their clients to ensure the correct laser treatment plan is prescribed. Our students are trained to determine if the laser treatment is safe for the client considering their complete medical history and skin type to avoid contraindications.  

Our educators mentor our students to use their own authority to determine whether or not a client can receive a laser procedure based on their skin type and medical history.  Ultimately, it is at the laser technician’s discretion if they will be able to perform a laser treatment on the client.  This protocol is designed for the safety of our clients and our staff.
