ABOUT US

National Laser Institute is the leading cosmetic laser safety training expert in the industry.  We performed 72,613 treatments on 13,970 clients in Arizona in 2014.  In fact, our safety record is over 99.997 percent.  Known as a pioneer in the cosmetic laser industry, we are dedicated to providing the best cosmetic laser safety training for our students since 2004, the first year laser training was required by the state of Arizona.

Noted as the gold standard of education in the cosmetic laser and medical aesthetics industry, we are proud to train the top physicians, dermatologists, plastic surgeons, aesthetic nurses, cosmetic laser technicians, and skincare specialists from around the world. National Laser Institute is sanctioned by the Arizona Board for Private Post Secondary Education. We administer CE/CME credits from the Arizona Nurses Association and the American Academy of Family Physicians.

At the National Laser Institute, we follow and train our students according to the strict guidelines set by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), Arizona Radiation Regulatory Agency (ARRA), and the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

Med spas and laser clinics must register with the ARRA and laser technicians must be licensed. Laser technicians must work under the supervision of a medical director, who is a prescribing healthcare professional, either a doctor or nurse practitioner. At National Laser Institute, our cosmetic laser safety training is designed to help our students avoid the top three violations in the cosmetic laser industry which include:

  • Unlicensed laser technicians or conducting additional procedures they are not trained in.
  • Procedures other than hair removal being conducted without a medical director at the facility.
  • Non-authorized individuals supervising laser technicians.

COSMETIC LASER SAFETY TRAINING

At National Laser Institute, we train our students with the most reputable, fastest growing and most widely recognized laser technology in the world in our private medical spa. More importantly, our students gain invaluable hands-on knowledge about industry best practices for laser techniques and laser safety protocols on real clients.

Proper training for all students on laser safety is essential and mandatory.  Our educators train our students how each individual piece of laser equipment works.  Moreover, our students are trained on each piece of equipment about the optimal time and length of laser exposure to create optimal, safe results for each client.

Instructors, students, and clients must wear protective eyewear to shield their eyes from direct and indirect laser exposure while in the treatment room.  When the laser is not in immediate use, the handpiece is placed in the standby mode for the safety of both the operator and the client. Additional precautions are taken to remove all unnecessary reflective objects from the area near the beam’s path including jewelry and piercings to avoid laser burns.

Finally, we train our students about the importance of obtaining and maintaining detailed medical records for their clients to ensure the correct laser treatment plan is prescribed. Our students are trained to determine if the laser treatment is safe for the client considering their complete medical history and skin type to avoid contraindications.

Our educators mentor our students to use their own authority to determine whether or not a client can receive a laser procedure based on their skin type and medical history.  Ultimately, it is at the laser technician’s discretion if they will be able to perform a laser treatment on the client.  This protocol is designed for the safety of our clients and our staff.

Dangers associated with cosmetic laser procedures are greatly reduced by the high standards of cosmetic laser safety regulations in the U.S. and by cosmetic laser safety training provided by schools like the National Laser Institute.  We invite you to receive your education at the National Laser Institute where cosmetic laser safety training is our number one priority.
