Why Should I Become a Medical Aesthetician?

To start, medical aesthetics is an art form. Many who choose to go into medical aesthetics are artists of some kind and in their own right. With this in mind, using cosmetic lasers on a client is like painting on a canvas. You operate with concise movements, each change in positioning determining a different effect. As well as that, you have to be able to see the final picture of what you want to achieve. With cosmetic lasers, it is no different. For instance, you evaluate the client, determine the treatment, and visualize the final look for the patient. As with a painting, you will determine which tool to use to achieve the desired effect. Moreover, if you are a person who is drawn to beauty and the arts, you will find enjoyment in being a medical aesthetician laser technician.

Meet Danielle: A Medical Aesthetician Laser Technician

Prior to National Laser Institute, Danielle worked as an executive assistant for a plastic surgeon. As well as that, Danielle has expressed enjoyment of painting acrylics and oils on canvases with bright, colorful ideas. When Louis inquires as to why Danielle decided to attend National Laser Institute for medical aesthetician training, she responds that she did not feel she was in her ideal role. Danielle replied, “I kind of helped go into the patient rooms and didn’t really do much…Finally, one day he got a laser and I volunteered first, I raised my hand…I had no knowledge whatsoever…So I did a little research and went to National Laser Institute.”

National Laser Institute

Danielle attended a two-week boot camp, cosmetic laser training course at National Laser Institute. When Louis asks how she heard about the school, she responds,

“I think just word of mouth, a lot of people in Dallas knew about it, especially in this industry.”- Danielle

Importantly, Danielle has a lot of fun with the training experience. As well as that, it grew her passion for the industry. At National Laser Institute, Danielle felt comfortable developing relationships with other classmates and instructors. “We actually got to work in real treatment rooms while we were there, treating patients…It was like a real environment of what it’s going to be like when you graduate and have a job.”- Danielle on what National Laser Institute was like

Life For Danielle Now

When Louis asks where her career is now, Danielle replied, “I’m now working at UT Southwestern In Dallas in the plastic surgery department and I’m a medical aesthetician laser technician…UT Southwestern actually has all the same lasers and equipment that I learned at National Laser Institute. After Danielle submitted her resume, the CEO was quickly impressed with her experience level. She replied that she was from National Laser Institute, “and that was really like, an honor.”

After working at UT Southwestern for a while, Danielle realized that everything she learned at National Laser Institute prepared her for her job at UT Southwestern. “Everything we need from safety…to the medical supplies…to how you speak to clients.” As well as that, Danielle learned all about pre-op and post-op from National Laser Institute. With her experience, she was able to show others what she had learned.

“I have this job, even my family reminds me…four years ago you went to National Laser Institute and you really had no impact it was going to have on your career.”- Danielle, on looking back.
