ASPS 2014 Stats Reveal Increase in Nonsurgical Cosmetic Treatments for Men

botox for men

The latest cosmetic nonsurgical and surgical statistics have been released by the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery for 2014. Other than Americans spending more than 12 billion last year, the biggest surprise was the increase (43% in the last five years!) in these treatments for men.

More men have been turning to nonsurgical cosmetic treatments. You may have heard about Brotox and other “manscaping” grooming options that have been more in demand by men. The ASAPS reports an 84% increase in Botox for men, 94% increase in hyaluronic acid dermal fillers for men, 37% increase in nonsurgical skin tightening treatments for men, and a 44% increase in IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) treatments for men. Overall, since 1997, there was a 273% increase in these treatments for men.

Although nonsurgical cosmetic treatments have been dominated by women in the past, this trend shows that men are beginning to care more about maintaining a youthful appearance without going under the knife. We can see treatments like Botox and dermal fillers are increasing in popularity by men. That might be because these cosmetic injectables offer no downtime, are low risk treatments, and tend to show results in a short amount of time.

Overall, some of the most in-demand nonsurgical treatments reported were Botox, dermal fillers, laser hair removal, chemical peels, and microdermabrasion. The popularity of these services show more people want a more rejuvenated appearance without any lengthy recovery times, and these noninvasive procedures are the way to give them that.
