Recession Proof Careers in 2020

careers 2020 recession proofDoes the recent news cycle have you looking for recession proof careers in 2020? Do you like the idea of working directly with clients to make their dreams a reality? You may want to become a cosmetic laser technician or an aesthetics injector. No matter who you are, the exciting field of medical aesthetics likely has an opportunity for you.

Why Medical Aesthetics Has Recession Proof Careers in 2020

Some people cannot understand why consumers would spend money on elective cosmetic procedures in times of economic distress. However, research has found that consumers still opt for little luxuries when budgets are tight. This phenomenon is known as the lipstick effect.

Small indulgences comfort consumers during economic recessions. More than that, however, cosmetic procedures allow workers to maintain a competitive edge in the workforce. Since employers see beauty and youth as assets in the job market, workers often turn to non-invasive procedures as relatively quick and easy ways to ensure job security.

It should not be surprising, then, to learn that the number of non-surgical procedures went up during the last recession. Surgical treatments, in contrast, require more time and money from the consumer. These are crucial, deciding factors, especially during a recession. Additionally, many non-invasive procedures guarantee repeat clients.

Cosmetic Laser Technician

With the right dedication and training, becoming a cosmetic laser technician can be quick and easy. In most states, the only requirements are that you:

  • Are at least eighteen years old
  • Have a high school diploma or its equivalent
  • Undergo a certain number of hours of supervised training

During our Online Comprehensive Laser Course, you will receive online classroom laser training with a variety of instructors and live demonstrations with several hours on each modality. Modalities include Laser Hair Removal, Photofacial, Laser Skin Rejuvenation, Radiofrequency Skin Rejuvenation, Coolsculpting, Cellulite Reduction, Tattoo Removal, Radiofrequency Skin Tightening, and Microneedling. You may even complete the course in as little as two weeks.

Many cosmetic laser technicians choose to focus on one or two specializations. Usually, this is more than enough to be profitable, given the high demand and built-in clientele for laser treatments.

Aesthetics Injector

Unlike cosmetic laser technicians, only medical professionals can become aesthetics injectors. It is not uncommon for nurses or physicians assistants to become aesthetics/cosmetics nurses. They may work at physicians’ offices, medspas, salons, or even open up private practices.

Alternatively, doctors, dermatologists, and other physicians may become certified to administer cosmetic injectables to maximize their income potential. Popular examples of cosmetic injectables include Kybella and Botox. If you are already a physician, adding cosmetic injectables to your offered services can only bring in more money.

During our CE/CME Cosmetic Injections Course, you will receive online classroom and demonstrations on Botox, dermal fillers, off label Botox and fillers, PRP, sclerotherapy, Kybella, and PDO threads. Then choose one of our nationwide locations to attend your clinicals for hands-on learning!
